This is the sort of modelling we’re doing every day at AE Smith. Having the capability to bring the building to life in a digital environment helps us collaborate with other suppliers

AE Smith’s Mark Jacobson and Chris Nyul, National BIM Operations Manager and BIM Implementation Coordinator respectively, were invited to speak at the
BrisBIM Christmas event to over 100 industry peers.

The event was fittingly held at
The Cube, QUT’s digital interactive learning and display space.

Mark and Chris presented a video showcasing AE Smith’s use of BIM on projects including The Translation Research Institute (TRI), Queensland University’s Advanced Engineering Building and the new Queensland Children’s Hospital Energy Plant.

The 3D images were all rendered to a realistic detail. By applying materials, such as copper and plastic, using shading, shadowing and various perspectives inside the digital model, the viewer was given a virtual 3D tour of each project.

Mark Jacobson commented on the presentation, “This is the sort of modelling we’re doing every day at AE Smith. Having the capability to bring the building to life in a digital environment helps us collaborate with other suppliers.”
